Keep your Yoga 2 Pro battery zen with Ubuntu

I ran a PowerTop session on my new Lenovo Yoga 2 Pro, to acheive better battery life. It’s already descent, but getting N minutes more is still cool. On the road to get 7 hours :-D

These were suggested by PowerTop and are working perfectly:

echo '1500' > '/proc/sys/vm/dirty_writeback_centisecs';
echo '0' > '/proc/sys/kernel/nmi_watchdog';
echo 'min_power' > '/sys/class/scsi_host/host0/link_power_management_policy';
echo 'min_power' > '/sys/class/scsi_host/host1/link_power_management_policy';

The ELAN touchscreen: setting its auto-management for power consumption makes it totally unusable after its suspension. There is no way to wake it back up. Obviously, for a touchscreen this is very bad, even more when the machine is in tablet/tent position…

The wifi always goes mad after a moment on this machine. It asks for an already known password on an already known network. The signal drops, or the card completely looses the connection. I’ll try setting the wifi full power to see if that enhances this particular behaviour.

iw dev wlan0 set power_save off
